Our Trip To Maine Part II & Another Fall Capsule Outfit

Happy Friday! Today I'm excited to share the second set of pics from our trip to Maine - we didn't get a chance to shoot the third outfit I wore so I'll put together a little collage for you soon. To suit the slightly cooler weather, I pulled out my favorite L.L. Bean fisherman sweater and was comfortable all day.

I've mentioned this sweater before but I think it bares repeating that I could not live without it. In fact, if I could I would wear it day in and day out without ever growing tired of it. Made from super soft cotton, this fisherman is the perfect blend of classic and casual and keeps me warm in the winter and cool in the spring.

For the rest of my outfit I layered a plaid shirt and navy blazer so that I could add or remove a piece as the temperature fluctuated throughout the day. On bottom I wore my new favorite jeans from Madewell and added a crossbody, hat and chelsea boots.

Capsule Pieces: Ralph Lauren plaid shirt, L.L. Bean Fisherman Sweater, Madewell jeans

Outerwear: Brooks Brothers navy blazer

Accessories: Green Fedora

Purse: Louis Vuitton crossbody

Shoes: Cole Haan chelsea boots

Our Trip To Maine Part 1 & A Fall Capsule Wardrobe Outfit

Happy Friday! Today I'm excited to share one of my fall capsule wardrobe outfits from our recent trip to Maine. Even though it's no surprise that I love Maine (Jason is a Mainer and we were married there last year!), I was still giddy beyond belief that we would be visiting in the fall - even if it was only for three days.

When we first booked this trip, we were anticipating that it would be COLD. Instead, we lucked out with perfect, almost warm weather that was still crisp enough for layers -a.k.a perfect blazer weather.

Needless to say, I took no time wearing one of my favorite blazers the first full day that we were there. To compliment the neutral herringbone of this vintage Ralph Lauren jacket, I kept my base layers in complimentary shades of blue with a simple tee and jeans.

For accessories I kept things simple and classic with a fall themed silk scarf, belt and clutch. For footwear I wore my incredibly comfortable chelsea boots that you can see in my packing post here

All-in-all, I couldn't have been happier with this look and will definitely be wearing it again once it gets cooler here in Charleston. Not only was it super comfortable - after all it was essentially just a t-shirt and jeans! - but it was also polished enough to keep me feeling appropriate and ready for everything from a simple breakfast to cozy dinner out.

Capsule Pieces: J. Crew navy long sleeve tee, Dark Wash Skinny Jeans from LOFT

Outerwear: Ralph Lauren Herringbone blazer

Accessories: Massimo Dutti belt, vintage silk scarf

Purse: Louis Vuitton clutch

Shoes: Cole Haan chelsea boots

Chic & Comfy Travel Outfit

On Wednesday Jason and I are taking a quick trip to Maine for some fall fun. In preparation, today I'm sharing one of my go-to travel looks that keep me comfy but chic.

The base of this look is one that fits just about any destination I'm heading to and can be topped with a blazer for some added warmth and polish. For this trip I will be doing just that and will wear one of the three blazers I'm bringing - stay tuned for my complete packing guide and list later this week.

For footwear, I always like to wear booties because they go with everything and are super comfortable. Plus, I can easily wear socks with them to protect my feet from the airport floor when going through security. Also, I love to bring my travel Longchamp Pliage to store my personal items. To keep to the one carry-on and a personal item rule, I always leave enough room in my carry-on to store one of my purses. More on that to come in a post later this week.

Below, I've linked the items you see here in case you're interested and I would love to know what you're go-to travel outfit is. Let me know in the comments below and I can't wait to share pics of Maine soon.

Until next time,

A Week In Breckenridge, Colorado

Day 1

Earlier this month I traveled to Breckenridge, Colorado with my family for a week of Rocky Mountain views. As someone who has never visited Colorado before, I was eager to see what the Centennial state had to offer and was blown away by the intense natural beauty almost immediately. On the day I traveled to Colorado, I caught a very early flight into Denver. After landing in the late afternoon, I met my family at the airport so that we could make the two hour drive to our rental in Breckenridge. From the moment we left the city the skyline opened up to reveal some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen. That night I tucked in early to help fend off a slight bought of altitude sickness and woke the next morning eager to explore.

After relaxing for a bit, we set out for the Snowflake Trailhead which was conveniently located a two minute walk from our rental.

                                                                      &nbs…

I wore my navy blue long-sleeve t, white Levi's 501 CT jeans, Forever 21 hat and Massimo Dutti belt.

The trail, which is really more of a light walk, was such a great way to acclimate to the altitude. Winding gently through bubbling streams and delicate waterfalls, the trail eventually opened up to a perfectly serene lake and sweeping landscape views. Needless to say, I was completely smitten and didn't want to leave.

Day 2

On the second day, I was still fighting a little altitude sickness so we kept it simple with another light walk. This trail offered continuous mountain views, the freshest air, and the loveliest wildflowers. To suit the cooler than expected temps I wore my Everlane u-neck tee, Madewell jeans and Zara shawl.

I kept my accessories simple and stuck to my J. Crew bangle and Massimo Dutti belt.

This adorable little cottage at the end of our hike, was staged as it would have looked during the gold rush.

Day 4

On our third day in Breckenridge we drove back into Denver to pick up my sister! Unfortunately I left my camera at home so I wasn't able to take any pictures. BUT, on our fourth day we took my favorite hike of the whole trip and snapped more than enough pictures to make up for the day before.

Known as Hoosier Pass, this gorgeous trail sits at an elevation of 11,539 feet and offers some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen.

The weather on our fourth day was absolutely freezing so I wore my black long-sleeve tee, Madewell jeans and Zara leather jacket. For accessories I wore my favorite turquoise Zara necklace, Massimo Dutti belt and Forever 21 hat.

Simply picturesque, there is truly no other way to describe it. This hike featured a gradual climb and appeared to be nestled in the clouds. Lined with endless wildflowers and gorgeous evergreens, the hike far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it if you're ever in the area.

Day 5

On our fifth and final day in Breckenridge we ventured on another hike - I promise we did more than hike, I just left my camera at home for the downtown walks and delicious dinners. Instead, I captured those parts of our trip over on Instagram stories. Anyway, our final hike was just as lovely as those before it, but definitely a little more difficult. The weather this day was also much cooler than it had been prior so I pulled out my sweater to stay warm.

The endless hues of green were simply beautiful.

Winding upward into the mountains, this hike was the perfect blend of forest and trails. As if the fresh air and gorgeous views weren't enough, the trail was also covered in lush greenery and had the cutest chipmunks I've ever seen! They were adorably friendly and even ate out of my hand!! I felt like Snow White and managed to capture it on film - included in my trip lookbook below.

The weather on our final day was the perfect blend of rainy and exhilarating. To suit the cool temps I wore my cream L.L. cableknit sweater, Madwell jeans and new hiking boots. About 15 minutes into our hike it started to rain so I pulled my hair back with a tortoise shell J. Crew barrette.

All-in-all, I can't recommend Colorado enough. The gorgeous scenery and unbelievably fresh air made it the perfect week long getaway.

Arizona State Of Mind

To say that Arizona is breathtaking would be an understatement. From the moment we landed in the copper state I was blown away by the stunning natural beauty around every corner. From the incredible colors to the magnificent mountain peaks, the landscape is remarkable and I highly recommend a trip if you haven't been.

To compliment the exquisite scenery I wanted to wear something that wouldn't compete with the vivid colors so I opted for all white. My relaxed t and new high rise white jeans were the perfect base for this look and allowed my rich brown and turquoise accessories to shine.

Until next time!
