GREY + WHITE = CHIC!

You know how much I love grey. Even though this color can be a bit tricky to nail down, when you finally do it looks so chic and lately, I’ve been seeing grey pop up everywhere! This coming spring in particular we’re seeing every shade of grey imaginable - making it easier than ever to find your perfect grey. In honor of this understated staple gaining popularity, I wanted to round up some inspiring outfits featuring one of my favorite color combos: grey and white.

One of the things I love the most about this combination is how versatile it is and how no matter your style (as you can see below) it just works. You can get more inspiration for this color here :)

HELLO THERE! End Of Year Thoughts & A Huge THANK YOU!

Well hello there! It’s been AGES since I last updated here. It seems that YouTube and the lengthy task of planning, filming, editing and posting over there has taken over and while I definitely prefer video as my main medium, I realized as this year comes to a close, that I miss writing and sharing here.

When I first started sharing my personal style journey on the internet, it began with a blog and then an instagram and it wasn’t until we (my husband and our pets) moved to Charleston that I started YouTube. It was all still relatively new then and especially when it came to fashion, YouTube was still largely untoched. So, on Jason’s recommendation, I dove it and It took months (probably years if I really think about) of teaching myself how to film and edit. Get comfortable on camera and learn how to create content that felt like me but still kept the algorithm in mind. A part you really can’t avoid thinking about if you want your channel to grow.

Fast forward a few years and Jason and I now work full time together on what started as Audrey A La Mode and turned into so much more. I’m endlessly grateful that this pocket of the internet exists and connecting with you has been incredibly rewarding. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

Vintage Ralph Lauren blazer, vintage sweater that got lost in the move and my first silk shirt purchase

NOW…. as we move into the new year, I’m excited to continue making content over on YouTube but want to also share here - with pics like the old days! And maybe some shorter videos with quick styling tips. I also have some other exciting projects in the works that I can’t wait to share and of course, refocus some energy on Fennwyth :) As we lean into the end of the year and soak up time with family I’d love to know what you’d like to see more of in the new year. Any topics you want covered? Any pieces you need help styling? Let me know!

I’m personally looking forward to restyling the older pieces in my wardrobe and keep expanding my color palette - more personal color analysis chats coming soon. Along with more color videos of course. Over on instagram I recently shared my love of blazers and some of my favorites that I’m looking forward to restyling and of course sharing with you.

Until then, I’m wishing you a very HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND HEALTHY NEW YEAR!!!

xxx Audrey

This particular outfit is one I’m really excited about because it hits that chic, minimal but delicate and timeless balance that I LOVE. Plus, I love wearing all black year-round but in the summer I find it particularly perfect because it’s a little more unexpected than white and it doesn’t show sweat marks - a must when you live somewhere really warm.

Summer To Fall Transitional Dressing - 6 Easy Tips

Transitional dressing is some of my favorite. I love the anticipation as a new season takes hold and the cooler mornings and nights give me new life. As invigorating as dressing for that in-between weather can be, it can also be difficult. Today, I’ve put together 6 easy tips that I use for transitioning from summer to fall - even when it’s still hot out.

TIP 1: GO FOR CLOSED TOE SHOES

One of the fastest ways to change up your outfit and to bridge that space between seasons, is to swap out your shoes. Specifically for summer into fall, replacing your open toe shoes and sandals with something closed toe is an instant way to move into colder weather. Bonus points if the shoes are a darker color, or something really fall feeling like loafers or ankle boots.

TIP 2: DARKEN UP YOUR ACCESSORIES

Another one of my favorite ways to transition my wardrobe from summer into fall, especially when wearing my light colored pieces, is to swap my light accessories for darker colors. Specifically for me, I love going from pale white to black or even dark green. I’ll add a black belt, closed toe black shoes and of course, a black bag and sunglasses. I also love to swap accessories that feel light and airy for those that feel a little more grounded. Thicker belts, thicker sunglass frames and chunkier shoes. This works particularly well with a little white dress. The addition of a black belt, black ankle boots, black purse and light blazer for layering instantly transition a summer dress into fall.

TIP 3: SWAP LIGHT JEANS FOR DARK

Similarly, swapping my light jeans for dark wash jeans or better yet, a pair of structured pants instantly transforms my tops into fall. I especially love doing this with a simple white t-shirt or. white shirt. The addition of a pair of dark wash jeans and darker, closed toe shoes make even the lightest tops ready for fall.

TIP 4: ADD SOME STRUCTURE

I mentioned this in a recent video, but there’s something that feels more formal about fall so a simple addition of some tailored pants, a tailored blazer, a cinched waist, structured bag or even a structured jacket as it gets much cooler help things feel less summer and more fall.

TIP 5: UPDATE YOUR MONOCHROME

Since I love dressing in the same color from head to toe all year, one of my favorite ways to move between seasons is to change up the colors I’m wearing. For summer into fall, I love going from all white to all black, all navy or even burgundy, rich purple, brown or even just a color that’s trending for fall. This simple change is enough to signal warmer temps coming to an end and help move your closet into fall. Plus, you can use these monochromatic bases as a perfect starting point for fall accessories and blazers - win win.

TIP 6: ADD SOMETHING TRENDY

Just like wearing a color that’s trending for fall can help transition your closet from summer to fall, I also like adding something trendy for the new season. For fall 2021, I’m personally going to be reaching for my dark wash denim, green accessories and slouchier jeans. I’m also looking forward to structured vests, chunky sweaters and cropped blazers.
